National Safe Boating Week is coming up the last week of May. There's lots of free stuff available to give away at marinas, boating stores and for VEs. Below is copy of AUX NSBW Jan/Feb. newsletter.

We’re in the planning stage for National Safe Boating Week 2010 (May
22-28). We need to stock up now on the materials for our PA exhibits and
VE stations. First, develop a list of supplies, pamphlets, posters and other
materials needed to give out to the recreational boating public.
One of our best sources for NSBW materials is the National Safe Boating
Council. This year, the Council’s North American Safe Boating Campaign
will send out a mailer to campaign participants to let them know about order

One of our best sources for NSBW materials is the National Safe Boating
Council. This year, the Council’s North American Safe Boating Campaign
will send out a mailer to campaign participants to let them know about order
information, USCG statistics, NSBW information and other resources
available for the “Wear It!” campaign.
To receive this mailer, be sure to send a mailing listing in an Excel format, to Rachel Burkholder,
Outreach Manager, National Safe Boating Council, at <outreach@SafeBoating Council.org.> Include
your Name, Title, Organization, Street Address, City, State and Zip Code, by 12 February 2010.
Also, get in touch with your state boating agency to order safe boating materials. Contact your DIRAUX
office to reserve PFD Panda and the Coast Guard Half Boat. Schedule a Coastie visit for the kids.
For special events, such as parades, regattas and Blessings of the Fleet, request permits. For your PA
exhibits, reserve space at malls, parks and marinas.

On 15 Jan 10, Flt. 05-03 held a working meeting to appoint the 2010 FSO staff.
A full roster was completed when most FSOs from 2009 were reappointed and vacancies filled. IP-VFC/FSO-NS/MA Anthony Reardon has accepted the position of Secretary. All FSOs have been duly registered in AuxData.
It was proposed and accepted that Boat Crew Training and Mentoring (Sign-Offs) would commence with a Flt. 5-03-sponsored Swim Test, tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, March 3rd, continuing with classes to meet each Wednesday at EIA, Inc. (15th Street and Broadway) at 6:30 PM. All members are welcome, but a solid commitment to the attend all classes (to run through May when we begin on-the-water training & patrols) will be required..
The Change of Watch Ceremony was attended by the FC, VFC Joselph McCarthy, IPFC/FSOOP/IS George Engel, and FSO-CS Charles Jeff Rooney. A good time was had by all.

kiernan5-11 meeting was on January 14 at Inwood Hill Nature Center. Proposal was made to adopt a cutter. We through that we should let the cutter crews know they are not forgotten.
Members who have not paid dues will be disenrolled. We did our first PV for the year. We will be performing more MDA patrols this year. We will try to increase membership. The dyckman marina is scheduled to open in the late spring however seeing is believing. A new community center is being built on Dyckman Street near the marina and should be open this spring. These 2 new locations will be a source for our flotilla to seek more members and reach out to the community.
