New law in NY on PFDs. Gov Patterson has signed a bill mandating that all users of recreational craft under 21 feet must wear a life preserve Nov through May. Makes sense to me.

Periodic maintenance continues as usual on the Division web site. The SO-PA had some difficulty getting into his account on the site, but a quick reset fixed the problem. As always, any Division officer who wants to be able to post news to the Division blog need only ask, and I'll set them up with an account. If you can post to this forum, you can post to the blog - it really is that easy.
On a related note, this new report format seems like an excellent idea. Hopefully it will streamline the reporting process and cut down on the level of AUXSPAM we all receive.

UPDATE: Initial Indoctrination to Marine Safety (IIMS) END of COURSE EXAM
The Initial Indoctrination to Marine Safety is an active duty course rather than an Auxiliary course. As such, we must follow the procedures for enrolling in and scheduling an end of course test for an active duty course. The test is not available through the Auxiliary National Testing Center. While each Sector has their own procedures, in general it must be scheduled through an active duty unit's Education Services Officer (ESO).
Please be prepared to supply the following information. Information that will be needed to be entered into the system to take the exam will include: name, address, city, state, zip code, phone number, member number, social security number, rank (AUX) and OPFAC (will be known to the ESO or may be obtained from your DIRAUX). Failure to supply the information will eliminate you from taking the test.
Please follow your MS staff chain for information on the exact procedures in your area.
The Training Material for the course can be accessed from the National Site in the Marine Safety Ribbon Training Section.
For those Members that are interested in taking the IIMS (Initial Indoctrination to Marine Safety) end of course exam, please contact Sector LIS South: Vinny Porsella, Sector LIS North: John McLeod and for Sector New York North & South Judith DiMaio.
Please email John McLeod at: John.A.Mcleod@uscg.mil to reserve a seat for the test.

Hello all -
Please see the DRAFT report below from Jim Reznik, the ADSO-NS (hope that copying an xcel spreadsheet works). Currently, Brian Luster of 5-10 (thank you, Brian!) is the only Division 5 person appearing on this report. If you or any of your flotilla members have done any AtoN / PAtoN reporting that doesn't show up on the attached spreadsheet, please add what you have done, and return the revised spreadsheet to me with the changes highlighted.
Note that contributions to the bridge program are not on this spreadsheet - Division 5 (to my knowledge, Brian Brown, Tony Reardon & myself) has contributed pictures and reports to the bridge program.
Please let me know if I have missed anyone's contributions...sometimes people send their reports directly to the ADSOs.
I have also sent this report via email. Belt & suspenders.
See you this evening.
